Default Windows media player 9.0 and video streaming

I have PIII 2CPU 1ghz, 832Mb Ra.
When I try to play movies from the internet, most of the
time AVI or MPEG (about 5Mb or more) it takes ages before
Windows Mediaplayer starts to play them or something if is
a big movie (more than 5 MB) The player hangs. This is
since I installed windows mediaplayer 9.0, with the 8.0 i
haven't had any problem in Windows XP + SP1. Is here a Fix
for? Or can somebody help me?
thanks
Abby
