Task bar items changing order; active one hard to tell by looking at taskbar
The rectangles for each program in the task bar keep changing the order
they're in. Is there a way to make them stay put. Also, in Win98 the active window was clearly a different shade or color from the other rectangles. In Vista, 7, or 10, this went away and I had to try every color before I found one what was sort of good. Have they put it back the way it is or is there some way for me to tell quickly which rectangle in the task bar is the one in focus? TIA |

I can't find anything about the width in the setup file. I have posted a picture at https://postimg.cc/F1dY4SV5 that may address some of your viewing concerns. You can see that my border color is Orange. The brighter border (top, bottom and sides) is what defines an active program and the dimmed color defines an inactive program. This scheme was achieved by following the instructions at https://winaero.com/blog/enable-the-...in-windows-10/ Read the complete instructions before starting and there is an example of what you will see at the end of these instructions. Included in the picture that I mentioned at the start is a picture with some programs in the task bar (labelled Taskbar Highlights). I prefer my task bar to be on the RHS of my screen. This is a habit which I developed back in the days when the ability to relocate the task bar was introduced in Windows XP but having it at the bottom of a small screen in those days was using real estate that I preferred to keep for reading other data. And I still maintain that reasoning. Some of the items on the task bar are described below The blue button at the top is the Start button. The last four items are described below. Item 5. Total Commander This is my file manager and the green bar indicates that a file is downloading in the background and about 70% has been received. Item 6. This shows that 'Mailwasher Pro' is currently idle. Item 7. This shows that the program I use for newsgroups (Agent) is active (note the Orange background). Item 8. This shows that my Partition Manager program (Aomei) has been started but is not currently active. |
